Upcoming direct flights from India that will start its operations from September 2025; 'China, Thailand & more'

Amid 'tariff' tensions with the United States, India is all set to boost its air connectivity with China and various other countries. Multiple direct flights will connect India to various other countries. Most of the flights will start operating from September 2025. 1) India to China direct flights to resume from September 2025

As per Bloomberg report, India and China are all set to resume direct flights. This is being considered a sign of improvement in relations between the two countries.

The report said that the Indian government has asked airlines like Air India and Indigo to be ready to start flights to China immediately.

This service was stopped after the COVID period 2020. After this, the Galwan conflict in June 2020 further worsened the relations between the two countries.

PM Narendra Modi will attend the SCO summit in Tianjin starting Aug. 31, where he is expected to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping. The official announcement may come during or after the SCO Summit.

Before the suspension, Air India and IndiGo, as well as Chinese airlines such as Air China, China Southern and China Eastern ran services between key cities of the two countries. A resumption is likely to see both Air India and IndiGo restarting flights to China.

2) Mumbai to Tashkent (Uzbekistan) and Almaty (Kazakhstan)

Airline career IndiGo is all set to start direct flights to Central Asian cities. The Indian Airlines on Tuesday announced direct four weekly flights from Mumbai to Tashkent (Uzbekistan) and Almaty (Kazakhstan). The services will start from September 1 and 2, 2025 respectively.

Since April, IndiGo has temporarily suspended flights from the national to Almaty and Tashkent due to aircraft operational range constraints in the wake of the Pakistan airspace closure.

3) India to Thailand direct flight

Akasa Air has announced direct new flight for Thailand from September 2025. This will be the sixth international destination for the three-year-old airline which began operations on August 7, 2022. It currently flies to Abu Dhabi (UAE), Doha (Qatar), Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), Kuwait City (Kuwait), and Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).
