In a major development, Vigilance Bureau and Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Saturday carried out raids at Bikram Singh Majithia's properties.
As per information received, joint operation by the SIT and Vigilance is currently underway. Raids are being conducted at multiple locations linked to Bikram Majithia in Chandigarh.
The Vigilance team is also raiding Delhi-based Sainik Farm.
Sainik Farm is listed as part of Bikram Majithia’s alleged benami (proxy-owned) properties.
The value of Sainik Farm is estimated between Rs 150 to Rs 200 crore.
A technical team is also present during the raids to collect digital and forensic evidence.
Companies linked to Majithia and his family are under investigation. It is alleged that drug money was routed through these shell companies.
Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former minister Bikram Singh Majithia, who was arrested in a disproportionate assets case, will be presented in the Mohali court today as his judicial custody ends.
Majithia was taken into Vigilance Bureau custody on June 26 and was later sent to judicial custody on July 6. He has since been lodged at New Nabha Jail for the past 14 days.
Reports suggest that the Vigilance Bureau may present details in court today regarding recoveries made during these raids.
