A few other parts of Punjab witnessed light to moderate rainfall at isolated places bringing slight relief from the recent warm weather and according to the latest weather update this pattern is expected to continue in the coming days with changing conditions across the state.
Across Punjab temperatures remained within a moderate range and the highest maximum temperature today was recorded in Amritsar at 33.4°C while the lowest minimum temperature was noted in Ballowal at 18.0°C however weather experts have said that the minimum temperature is likely to rise by around 5 to 7 degrees Celsius over the next five days which may lead to warmer nights ahead.
The overall weather in Punjab was mostly dry but from May 6 and 7 light rain is likely at isolated places in the state which means not all areas will receive rainfall but some districts may experience short spells of rain.
From May 6 a warning has been issued for thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds with speeds of 30 to 40 kmph in Pathankot, Hoshiarpur and Rupnagar and these areas may also receive light to moderate rainfall during this period.
A similar warning has been issued for May 7 for districts including Muktsar, Bathinda and Mansa and these regions are also likely to experience thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds along with light to moderate rain at isolated places.
No weather warnings have been issued for May 8 and May 9. The forecast for these two days suggests dry weather across Punjab which may bring a temporary pause in rainfall activity.
However weather conditions are expected to change again on May 10 and a wider number of districts including Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar and SAS Nagar (Mohali) have been put under a warning for thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds along with light to moderate rain is also likely in these areas.
Officials have advised people especially in the districts under warning to stay alert during thunderstorms and avoid open areas during lightning activity and farmers and residents have also been asked to take necessary precautions to prevent any damage due to sudden weather changes while overall Punjab is likely to see a mix of dry and rainy days over the next few days with isolated rainfall and occasional thunderstorms affecting different parts of the state.
