Punjabi YouTuber Manpreet Singh alias Mani Shoker is among three people arrested by the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police in a case involving the recovery of five pistols and five live cartridges and according to DCP Aditya Warrier, the other two accused have been identified as Dilpreet Singh, a resident of Dharm Singh Wala in Moga district, and Mehar Singh alias Prince, a resident of New Azad Nagar, Ludhiana.
Manpreet Singh alias Mani Shokar, son of Jaswinder Singh, is a resident of village Atti Baja in Phillaur and he is identified by the police as a Punjabi YouTuber.
Police have arrested him in connection with the arms case registered at Sadar Police Station.
The case dates back to September 18, when a police team led by SI Narinder Mohan, in-charge of the Jandiala police post, was conducting checking at Jandiala Mor under the supervision of SHO Balkaran Singh and during the checking operation, police stopped a Mahindra Scorpio.
According to the police account, the driver and a clean-shaven passenger were asked to provide their identification documents and allow the vehicle to be searched.
Police said the passenger, later identified as Mani Shokar, allegedly pulled out a pistol and attempted to fire at a person identified in the police account as 'C' and during the struggle, two shots were fired and hit the wall of a nearby dhaba.
The police team subsequently overpowered the two men and arrested Mani Shokar and Scorpio driver Dilpreet Singh. The Glock pistol allegedly used in the firing was seized along with three cartridges.
Police said further interrogation of Mani Shokar led to the recovery of four additional pistols and two live cartridges and the total recovery in the case stands at five pistols and five live cartridges.
The weapons listed by police include a Glock 19 Gen 4, a Cugir Romania TT-C, a Walther PP and two unmarked pistols and an FIR has been registered at Sadar Police Station under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 25/27-54-59 of the Arms Act.
The police have not alleged that the accused were convicted of any offence and the arrests and allegations remain subject to the ongoing legal process.
