In a major breakthrough in Charanpreet’s murder case that took place in Chandigarh’s Sector 9, the Punjab Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has arrested both accused following an operation in Kaithal.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Rajan, alias Piyush Pehalwan, a resident of Ferozepur, and Pritam Shah from Nawanshahr. According to officials, Rajan had recently entered India illegally from Malaysia via Nepal and the police also revealed that both accused have multiple criminal cases already registered against them.
According to reports, during the operation, the accused allegedly opened fire on the police in an attempt to flee while in retaliatory action by the police, both sustained injuries before being overpowered and taken into custody. Authorities have also recovered the motorcycle and weapon used in the murder.
Further investigation is underway.
