The Mohali administration has suspended the licence of Gulati Travels, a Kharar-based immigration and travel consultancy firm, for a period of three months for violating mandatory reporting provisions under the Punjab Travel Professional Regulation Act, 2012. The order was passed by Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Geetika Singh, who exercised her powers under Section 6(1)(e) of the Act.

According to an official statement, the licence of Gulati Travels — located at SCO No. 04, First Floor, Bansa Wali Chungi, Kharar — has been suspended with immediate effect from October 30, 2025. The firm, owned by Navneet Gulati, a resident of Sector 40-D, Chandigarh, had been granted Licence No. 691/IC on July 17, 2024. The licence authorized the firm to operate as an immigration and travel consultancy, IELTS coaching institute, and ticketing agent, and was valid until July 16, 2029.

However, officials said the firm had repeatedly failed to comply with key provisions of the Act, which require licensed agents to regularly submit monthly, half-yearly, and seminar or advertisement reports to the concerned authorities. Despite several reminders from the office of the Additional District Magistrate, the firm did not send any of the required reports or self-declaration forms since the issuance of its licence. No documentation was provided to the Department of Home Affairs and Justice either, which oversees compliance under the Act.

The ADM’s office stated that a notice had earlier been issued to the firm for non-compliance, giving it time to respond and submit the pending reports. However, even after the lapse of the stipulated period, the firm failed to file any reply or explanation. In view of this persistent violation of mandatory conditions, ADM Geetika Singh ordered the suspension of the licence for three months.

The administration has also issued a fresh notice to the licencee under Section 6(1)(e) of the Punjab Travel Professional Regulation Act, 2012, directing it to respond within 15 days to clarify its position. Officials said further action would depend on the firm’s reply and compliance with the Act’s provisions.

The suspension serves as a warning to other travel and immigration consultancies in the district to strictly adhere to regulatory norms and maintain transparency in their operations, officials added.
