Chandigarh gets projects worth ₹4,700 crore, spanning healthcare, education and road infrastructure

Prime Minister laid foundation stone of multiple projects worth over ₹4,700 crore, spanning healthcare, education and road infrastructure in Chandigarh. Addressing the gathering, PM Modi highlighted the importance of modern infrastructure and said that the newly launched projects would strengthen facilities for people across the region.

Talking about Chandigarh

Talking about Chandifgrah, PM said Chandigarh is not only a city but a development model for India. He added that Chandigarh is popularly known for its Ese of Living, Good Lifestyle and mentioned the religious blessings of Maa Chandi on the city.

He also added that with the development of Chandigarh, several states in the North including Punjab, Haryana and Himachal will also grow in business.

Mentioning about the cleanliness of the city, PM specially mentioned retired IPS officer of Chandigrah, Inderjit Singh Sidhu. He announced that Inderjit Singh Sidhu was awarded with Padma Shri for his contribution this year.

Healthcare Push: “Better facilities closer to people”

Talking about healthcare facilities of India, he mentioned that India is a growing in the field of Medical tourism and this was only possible because of 12 years of loyalty and consistency of the government.

PM Modi highlighted the inauguration of major healthcare facilities at PGIMER Chandigarh, including the Advanced Mother and Child Centre and the Advanced Neurosciences Centre.

He said these centres would provide advanced treatment facilities for patients suffering from serious illnesses and reduce the need for people to travel outside the region for specialized care.

Prime Minister will also laid foundation stone of a 150-bed state-of-the-art Critical Care Block under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) at PGIMER, Chandigarh. The facility will significantly enhance emergency preparedness, intensive care services and disaster response capabilities while strengthening the overall healthcare infrastructure of the region.

Infrastructure & Connect

Talking about infrastructure development, PM Modi said that modern highways and better connectivity are essential for economic growth.

He highlighted the IT City–Kurali Greenfield Highway and other road projects, saying these would improve travel, boost trade and strengthen connectivity between Punjab and neighbouring states. The highway will reduce travel time between Mohali, Kharar and Kurali while providing improved connectivity between Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.

Prime Minister also talked about the new PR-7 Spur of the Ambala-Chandigarh Greenfield Highway (NH-205A), a 10.3-kilometre Greenfield corridor that will enable long-distance traffic to bypass the urban areas of Zirakpur and connect the Zirakpur Bypass directly to Aerocity, Chandigarh.

Education & Youth Development

PM Modi also spoke about strengthening educational infrastructure, mentioning new hostel facilities at Punjab Engineering College and Government College Sector 46 and Kurukshetra Boys Hostel & Mess at Punjab Engineering College,

These facilities will strengthen academic infrastructure, improve residential facilities for students and researchers, and create a better environment for higher education. 

In his address, PM Modi emphasized Punjab’s contribution to the country and said the government is working towards expanding opportunities through infrastructure, healthcare and education projects.

Mentions of Jalandhar

While addressing the public, PM also mentioned the programme to be held in Jalandhar after the Chandigarh event. He stated that in his Jalandhar visit, he is going to lay foundation of oprojects related to railway and will benefit the North

India’s first Hydrogen Train

Summing up his speech, PM Modi announced the innaugration of India’s first hydrogen train. This train was inaugurated earlier in Haryana today in Jind. He said that this train operated on Clean Fuel and is a big step towards future of transportation
