Inderpreet Singh, popular in his circles by the name Parry, was shot dead in Chandigarh’s Sector 26 on Monday evening in what police believe is a result of rising tensions between the Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar gangs. His killing has brought renewed attention to his background, his past cases, and the bitter rivalry unfolding online.

Parry, 28, had a history of cases related to organised crime activities. Police records show he had been booked earlier for assault and for links to extortion networks operating around Tricity’s club circuit. Officers familiar with him said he moved closely with individuals connected to the Bishnoi group and was active in nightlife zones where gang influence has grown in recent years.

He had recently gotten married in mid-November, and sources said he had been spending most of his evenings with friends in Chandigarh before the fatal attack.

On Monday, CCTV footage captured Parry leaving a club in Sector 26 and getting into his car with a man he seemed to trust. Moments later, the man sitting in the front passenger seat suddenly turned and fired at him from close range. Almost immediately, another car stopped nearby and more shots were fired at the vehicle.

Police said Parry suffered multiple bullet wounds and died on the spot. An abandoned car believed to be used by the attackers was later recovered from Panchkula by the CIA team.

Soon after the murder, a social-media post from an account using the name Aarzoo Bishnoi claimed responsibility for the killing. The post accused Parry of betrayal, alleging he had been collecting money from clubs in the name of the Lawrence network and was passing information to rivals. It also issued open threats to people linked to the opposite side, saying a “new war” had begun.

The post referenced old disputes and warned club owners, bookies, and supporters that they would be targeted.

Goldy Brar’s audio adds a new twist

An audio message circulating online — said to be from gangster Goldy Brar, though not officially verified by police — gives a completely different version. In the clip, the speaker accuses the Lawrence side of “betrayal” and claims Parry was misled and called to a meeting under the pretext of a personal discussion before being killed.

The voice in the audio says Parry’s family had once sheltered Lawrence and treated him like their own, and alleges that the killing was carried out despite that bond.

Police said they are examining the audio but have not confirmed its origin.

Meanwhile, police officers are analysing CCTV clips, checking call records, and identifying both the shooters and the individuals seen with Parry minutes before the attack. Teams are also verifying the authenticity of the social-media post and the circulating audio.

A senior officer said, “The murder appears connected to gang rivalry. We are investigating every angle, personal, financial, and gang-related.”

However, the brazen shooting in the UT triggered concerns over the growing presence of organised crime groups. Police have stepped up patrolling in Sector 26 and are coordinating with multiple agencies as the probe deepens.
