Netflix recently announced the sequel to the crime thriller franchise Raat Akeli Hai. The second installment, titled Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders, will see Honey Trehan return to the director's chair, with Smita Singh serving as the writer once again. The film will also see the return of Nawazuddin Siddiqui as the sharp, no-nonsense Inspector Jatil Yadav.
Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders, which takes place a few years after the events of the 2020 film, centres on Inspector Jatil Yadav as he becomes entangled in yet another intricate investigation a terrifying case of cold-blooded murder.
As a result, long-kept secrets within a prominent family are revealed. Jatil is forced to face the fine line between truth and consequence once more as the mystery grows.
The cast includes Chitrangada Singh, Rajat Kapoor, Deepti Naval, Ila Arun, Revathy, Akhilendra Mishra, Priyanka Setia, Sanjay Kapoor and Radhika Apte.
The film will have its World Premiere at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, this November.
The first film, released in 2020, received praise for its strong performances and gripping narrative. Now, the sequel seems to bring back the same tense atmosphere, with new twists and emotional depth.
While the exact release date of 'Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders' is not out but reports suggest that it will stream soon on Netflix after its premiere at IFFI.
