Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala’s posthumous album ‘Moose Print’, released on his 32nd birthday, has now surpassed 100 million views on YouTube within just four months. The achievement highlights how the late singer’s music continues to captivate audiences worldwide even years after his passing.
The album features three songs, ‘0008’, ‘Neil’, and ‘Take Notes’ all of which became instant hits upon release. The track ‘Take Notes’ alone garnered 3.3 million views within six hours, and currently stands at 37 million views. Meanwhile, ‘0008’ and ‘Neil’ have each crossed 32 million views, taking the album’s total beyond 100 million.
Moosewala’s father, Balkar Singh, shared during the launch that Sidhu used to release songs on his own and his parents’ birthdays. The album’s release, he said, was meant to continue that tradition. All of Sidhu’s unreleased tracks are being gradually shared with fans.
Before its launch, the album poster created massive buzz on Instagram, receiving over 1.3 million likes. In comparison, the BBC documentary on Sidhu Moosewala released despite family opposition has received only 2.1 million views so far.
Born as Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu on June 11, 1993, in village Moosa, Mansa district, Sidhu Moosewala rose to global fame as one of Punjab’s most influential artists.
On May 29, 2022, Moosewala was shot dead in broad daylight in village Jawaharke, Mansa, while driving his Thar jeep. The attack occurred just a day after his security cover was reduced by the Punjab government. Armed assailants opened fire, hitting Moosewala multiple times. He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The murder shocked the nation and triggered widespread outrage, leading to the arrest of several gang members linked to Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar’s network, who are accused of orchestrating the killing.
