Indians living in Canada especially on temporary visa may have to suffer again. As per CBC report, the Canadian government is seeking new powers to cancel groups of temporary visas i.e. mass visa cancellation, partly over suspected fraud in applications from India and Bangladesh. Hence, new Canada Visa Rules 2025 may lead to cancellation of Visas of Indians.
As per reports, this bill introduced in the Canadian Parliament proposes to give Canadian authorities the power to order the deportation of any Indian immigrant holding a temporary visa at any time. Furthermore, the authority should have the power to block the issuance of any temporary visa.
Internal Canadian officials have partnered with American institutions to identify and reject fraudulent visitor visa applications from India and Bangladesh.
This bill is significant in several ways. If this bill is passed in Parliament, it is likely to have a negative impact on Indians. This bill by Canada is significant because it comes at a time when 74 percent of visa applications from Indian students have been rejected by Canada.
The relations between India and Canada have deteriorated since the Justin Trudeau era. Meanwhile, Canada has tightened visa rules, which is being seen as a step against India. This proposal is reportedly being put forward by the Canadian Immigration Minister.
According to the proposal, Canada's Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Department, the Canada Border Services Agency, and US authorities will work together.
All these authorities will be given the power to cancel or refuse to issue any temporary visa at any time.
As per reports, more than 300 civil society organizations have expressed concern about this law. These organizations say that rejecting mass applications will give the government the opportunity to establish a mass deportation machine.
It is being reported that the government is seeking the power to reject mass applications to reduce its growing application burden.
