A large protest is being held at Jantar Mantar in Delhi as members of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) gathered to demand resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday.
Delhi Police and paramilitary forces were deployed at key locations across national capital to maintain law and order during the protest and officials said security arrangements were made as a large number of people were expected to attend the demonstration.
The protest is being led by Abhijeet Dipke who is the founder of this satirical online movement known as Cockroach Janta Party.
Dipke arrived in India from the United States on Saturday morning to take part in this protest and before the event he had posted on social media that he was looking forward to meeting supporters at Jantar Mantar and urged people to carry out this movement with “love and peace.”
Earlier this week Dipke announced that he would return to India from Boston to launch a peaceful protest seeking resignation of the Education Minister over issues related to examinations and during the protest he warned that a nationwide movement could be launched if Dharmendra Pradhan did not resign by 5 pm on Saturday.
The protest comes amid criticism faced by Education Ministry over alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case and claims of irregularities in CBSE’s On-Screen Marking (OSM) system.
Education reformer and climate activist Sonam Wangchuk also joined the protest as Wangchuk had earlier stated that he would participate in the demonstration if Education Minister did not step down by June 5 and before joining the protest Wangchuk had shared messages on social media expressing concern over examination-related controversies.
He said the issue was important because it affected millions of students and the future of the country. In an earlier video message Wangchuk said his concerns were not limited to NEET paper leak or CBSE evaluation controversy he said that for several decades he had worked to improve education in government schools in remote areas and was disappointed by lack of progress in education system.
