With peak festive season coming soon in India, Indian Railways has come up with a scheme on an experimental basis for those going home during Diwali and other festivals.
In Indian Railways new scheme, if someone books tickets for coming and going together, then a discount of 20% will be given on the return ticket.
This will benefit those who use the train to go home and come back. The Railways has taken this decision on an experimental basis in view of the rush for tickets and the problems faced by people during festivals.
Discount will be given on booking both the tickets for coming and going together.
The train should be of the same pair. If you go to Patna by Ahmedabad Express, then the return ticket will have to be booked by the return train of the same pair. For example, if you go by Ahmedabad-Barauni (19484), then the return will have to be done by the train of the same pair, Barauni-Ahmedabad (19483).
Ticket details should be the same. All the details given in the ticket should be the same. That is, things like source and destination (from where to where), passenger's name, age, distance and class (sleeper, 3 AC, 2 AC) should be same in both the tickets.
According to the Railways, to avail this discount, tickets for travel from 13 October to 26 October 2025 and for return, tickets for travel between 17 November to 1 December 2025 will have to be booked. Booking will start from August 14
Discount will not be available in trains with dynamic pricing.
This discount will not be applicable on trains with flexi fare like Shatabdi Express, Rajdhani Express, Duronto Express, Suvidha Express, Vande Bharat Express, Tejas Express trains. But apart from this, all categories and especially on-demand trains i.e. festive special trains are included in the scope of this discount.
