People are preparing for festival celebrations and travel as September is coming. For the ones with bank work, like cash withdrawal, visiting the branch for paperwork, or loan procedures, it's essential to keep track of bank holidays beforehand.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced its list of holidays for September 2025, including national holidays, state-level celebrations, and common weekend offs.

It's worth mentioning that banks will be closed on festival days and Sundays but online banking services and mobile banking services will be operational round the clock.

Here is the list of dates on which banks in September will be closed:

  • Monday, September 5: Id-e-Milad (Milad-un-Nabi) holiday for banks in Kerala, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra states.

  • Sunday, September 7: Indra Jatra will be a weekly holiday in Sikkim.

  • Sunday, September 14: Another weekly holiday.

  • Sunday, September 21: Another weekly holiday.

  • Saturday, September 27: Fourth Saturday.

  • Sunday, September 28: Another weekly holiday.

  • September 30 (Tuesday): Banks in West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Andhra Pradesh will be closed on the festive day of Maha Ashtami.

As most of these holidays are on weekends, it is possible that some states will have consecutive blocks of two or three days when banks will be closed. Hence, customers are requested to preplan their banking activities to avoid any inconvenience.
