Hours before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to flood-hit states like Himachal Pradesh and Punjab, a medical college has received bomb threat. As per reports, Nerchowk Medical College in Mandi (Himachal Pradesh) received a bomb threat on Tuesday.
This threat was received on the email of college principal Dr. DK Verma. The college administration informed the police about this.
After the Police was informed, they evacuated the hospital premises and started investigation inside the hospital.
About 300 patients admitted in the hospital were shifted to a safe place. The patients were made to sit on stretchers and wheel chairs under the shade of trees away from the hospital building.
The help of sniffer dogs is also being taken to search the four-storey hospital building. All the vehicles parked in the hospital premises and parking have also been taken out. As per reports, more than a thousand patients reach Nerchowk Medical College for treatment every day.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said his government stands shoulder-to-shoulder with people affected by the recent floods and landslides, as he began his visit to Himachal Pradesh and Punjab to assess the ground situation in the disaster-hit regions.
Taking to X, the Prime Minister wrote, "Leaving for Himachal Pradesh and Punjab to review the situation in the wake of floods and landslides. The Government of India stands shoulder to shoulder with those affected in this tragic hour."
The Prime Minister will review ongoing disaster response and rehabilitation measures after severe monsoon-triggered floods and landslides caused widespread devastation in the two northern states.
At around 1.30 p.m., PM Modi will reach Kangra in Himachal Pradesh, where he will meet officials and chair a high-level review meeting on the prevailing situation.
