
October 2025 will witness a number of bank holidays that fall under both national and state levels of observances. Such holidays are Gandhi Jayanti, Dussehra/Vijayadashami, Diwali, and local holidays, and Chhath Puja Kali Puja that result in bank holidays in some states.
- Gandhi Jayanti (Thursday, October 2) is a national bank holiday and hence, banks are shut in all the states of India.
- Maha Navami (Wednesday, October 1, 2025)
The Bihar, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Odisha, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Tripura, and West Bengal state banks will remain closed for a bank holiday.
This year, the 2nd of October arrives as a national holiday in the form of Gandhi Jayanti, but is tied with another holiday, Dussehra. The states of Bihar, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab, and a few more, will see their banks closed.
On Monday, 20 October the banks will be closed in states of Diwali (Deepavali)
Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra, Odisha, West Bengal, Delhi, Telangana, Sikkim, Tripura, Kerala, and others.
On 27-28 October, the banks will be closed on the day of Chhath Puja Banks in states of Bihar and Jharkhand.
On 31st October the banks will be closed in the states of West Bengal on account of Kali Puja, and Gujarat Sardar Patel Jayanti. Delhi also has Diwali-related festivals during this time.

Banks in most of the states will also observe the second Saturday holiday on 11th October 2025.
Some other festivals such as Maha Ashtami (30 September) and Lakshmi Puja (6 October) are being observed in some states with an aligned bank holiday. Even though the ATMs and online banking services will be available on bank holidays. The customers are advised to make the simple banking transactions prior to the holidays.
