
In a massive win for the dog lovers, Supreme Court of India on Friday morning changed its verdict on stray dogs. Delhi has been witnessing protest of dog lovers ever since, the apex court ordered to capture all the street dogs of the national capital and put them in shelter homes.
On Thursday, it was reported that the judgment will be delivered by a three-judge Bench comprising Justices Vikram Nath, Sandeep Mehta, and N.V. Anjaria, in the suo motu case titled "In Re: City Hounded by Strays, Kids Pay Price."
As per reports, the top court has slightly amended its order. The Supreme Court in its new verdict stated that stray dogs will released back to the same area after sterilisation and immunisation, except those infected with rabies or exhibiting aggressive behaviour.
Supreme Court ordered that no public feeding of dogs will be allowed, and dedicated feeding spaces for stray dogs to be created. Supreme Court further stated that there have been instances due to such feeding instances.
Supreme Court further ordered that MCD should create feeding areas in municipal wards.
The Court orders that if a public servant is obstructed from doing their duty, they will be liable.
Supreme Court says animal lovers can move an application before the MCD for the adoption of dogs.
