Former civil servant Suresh Kumar has released his first book, Insights from the Frontlines of Governance: Reflections of a Civil Servant and the book is now available through Amazon, Flipkart, and its publisher, Iterative International Publishers (IIP).

The book is a collection of selected opinion articles written by Kumar over past several years and after his retirement from public service in 2016 he began writing more actively on governance, public policy and administrative issues so since then he has written more than 150 opinion pieces based on his experiences and lessons from years of government service.

According to Kumar he avoided writing extensively on governance matters during his tenure as a civil servant to prevent possible conflicts and other complications and he said that public institutions like all human systems have different viewpoints and biases which often lead to debates and disagreements however he believes that governance should always be guided by rules, institutions and the larger public interest.

The book brings together many of his observations and reflections on governance and administration and it discusses challenges, decision-making processes and lessons learned through years of involvement in public service. The publication has received appreciation from several international and policy experts and among them are Shelli Brunswick who is the CEO and Founder of SB Global LLC, USA, Ameenah Gurib-Fakim who is former President of Republic of Mauritius, policy analyst and author Uttam Sinha and former Indian Ambassador Anil Trigunayat and they described the book as a useful resource for understanding governance, policymaking and public administration.

Kumar has also announced that he is working on another book which is tentatively titled Vichar, Takrar aur Sarkar which will be a memoir-based non-fiction work. The upcoming book is expected to combine his personal experiences with reflections on governance, policymaking and public service and speaking about his latest publication Kumar said the book reflects ideas and lessons gathered during his decades-long engagement with governance and administration and expressed hope that readers interested in public policy and governance would explore and support the book.
