The postponement of the T20 World Cup has allowed BCCI to plan for IPL 2020, which is all set to be played in the UAE, as confirmed by the league's Governing Council Chairman Brijesh Patel. BCCI also has a tentative schedule in mind and wants to conduct the tournament between 26 September to 08 November.

With no T20 World Cup, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is expected to lose a big chunk of their revenue this year as Pakistani players are not allowed to play in the IPL. Akhtar claimed Asia Cup and T20 World Cup could have been played this year despite the coronavirus pandemic and indirectly took a dig at BCCI for giving preference to IPL over T20 World Cup.
