What is a Dual-Degree Programme?

Dual degree programs allow you to achieve double in academics in half the time it would have taken you otherwise. For example, Dual Degree programs at IITs are 5-year integrated courses where B. Tech and M.Tech are awarded at the end of the 5 years. A student can't leave before completing 5 years with just a B.Tech degree. Normally in India, one can get an M.Tech degree only after 2 years of study following a B. Tech whose duration is 4 years. So on paper, you save one year by doing a dual degree, which supposedly is its advantage.

How a Dual-Degree Programme is beneficial for students?

1. Saves time

The most crucial benefit of enrolling in dual degree programs is that you would complete two degrees within the period in which other students would have achieved a single degree.

2. Double your professional network

By the time you are done, you will be surprised at how much you have stretched your professional, academic and personal network, provided you get out of your comfort zone.

3. Enable students to accelerate their learning

Dual degrees enable candidates to accelerate their learning in different subjects and are very well structured for the benefit of students.

4. The cost of education reduces

The cost of education also reduces with the reduction in one year. There is no need to prepare for a separate entrance exam for doing the Master’s course.

5. Opens a plethora of opportunities

You will stand out during the placements as the companies will always want to choose someone with a good understanding of two disciplines rather than a student who has to be trained in one.
