A few days subsequent to a formal complaint lodged by a 28-year-old woman from Kapurthala, alleging that she had been coerced into partaking in the drug trade by a drug peddler and his two daughters, another video has surfaced featuring a young Kapurthala girl engaged in weighing and vending "chitta" (heroin) at a counter, garnering widespread attention online.

Both of these incidents paint a disconcerting portrait of the depth of female involvement in the drug trafficking scene within the district. Following the video's viral dissemination, the Kapurthala police identified the girl in question, locating her in Badshahpur village within Kapurthala. Subsequently, her brother, Gurjant Singh, was apprehended, while the girl and her mother currently remain at large. A case has been registered against Gurjant, the girl featured in the video, and her mother under Sections 21-B, 61, and 85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Bharat Bhushan, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Bholath, elucidated: "A video emerged, depicting a girl using an electronic weighing scale to measure 'chitta' (heroin) and selling it to someone. Following the video's circulation, SSP Rajpal Sandhu instructed us to locate the girl. She was identified as hailing from Badhashpur village, with a preexisting case registered against her at the Bholath police station. The police executed a raid at her residence, leading to the discovery of 10 grams of heroin in the possession of her brother, Gurjant Singh, who was subsequently apprehended. Regrettably, the girl and her mother were not present at their residence. It appears the entire family was embroiled in this illicit trade."

SSP Rajpal Singh Sandhu commented, "The girl's brother, as seen in the video, was taken into custody promptly. The girl and her mother are presently evading arrest but will be apprehended in due course." In parallel, the 28-year-old woman from Kapurthala had previously written to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) on August 18, detailing that she had been coerced into selling "chitta" (heroin) for an extensive four-year duration. She alleged threats and intimidation by a well-known drug peddler and his two daughters, who possessed a longstanding presence in the narcotics trade. The woman, in her complaint, also disclosed that her refusal to partake in drug distribution would result in threats to her life and the life of her child, in addition to their induction into drug addiction.

The woman, who initially sought assistance from the Kapurthala City police station, was eventually traced to Kartarpur. While the Kapurthala city police claimed that she had decided to withdraw her complaint, the woman contradicted this assertion. Bhushan stated, "A video emerged on Friday featuring a girl weighing 'chitta' (heroin) on an electronic scale and selling it. After the video went viral, SSP Rajpal Sandhu instructed us to locate the girl, who was subsequently identified as a resident of Badhashpur village with a registered case against her at the Bholath police station. A raid was carried out at her residence, during which 10 grams of heroin were discovered in her brother Gurjant Singh's possession, leading to his arrest. The girl and her mother were not present at the time, further substantiating their involvement in the illicit drug trade."
