Advocate Babak Singh, a resident of Tanda near Hoshiarpur was arrested along with Sarabjit Sabi, a Nihang from Basti Danishmanda and Onkar Nath, a self-styled preacher of the Tut Kalan village. All three were arrested by the Punjab police for helping fugitive Amritpal Singh escape on march 30th and 31st. Babak Singh is said to have shared something about Amritpal Singh on his Facebook page, which prompted police action. He was arrested in Himachal Pradesh, as is the case with Sabi. Onkar Nath on the other hand was arrested from his village on Friday.

They have been taken in on a one-day remand and are being interrogated as of now. They will be questioned about Amritpal’s location and movements. The police have said that some material, relevant to the investigation has been recovered from the 3 and are expected to ask for an extension to the remand on Saturday.

The Kapurthala Bar Association has taken up the issue, siting the detention of a lawyer without notice as a breach of conduct. The Bar Association is expected to convene on Saturday to finalize their course of action on the matter.
