In
Goraya, a 14-year-old girl of class X was allegedly raped this morning, on the
pretext of giving her a lift. The incident took place near a private university
in Phagwara. The accused has been identified as Deepak Kumar. Cases have been
registered under Section 376 (3), 323,506 and Section 4 of the Protection of
Children from Sexual Offenses Act 2012. Police have arrested the accused.
As per reports, the accused offered lift to the victim while she was waiting for a bus at Bus Stop, Mahal. Unaware of the intentions of the accused, the girl took the lift thinking she would reach the school on time, however, the accused instead of dropping her to the school, took her to a room near to a university in Phagwara and allegedly raped her. He then dropped the girl back to the bus stand and drove away.
Meanwhile, the girl after reaching home, narrated the incident to her mother who then immediately filed the complaint with the police.
The mother of the victim also informed that the accused also threatened the girl to kill her brother if she reports the incident to anyone. She was also beaten up by the accused when she tried to escape and shouted for help.
