16 high-risk contacts of Delhi pizza delivery boy test negative for coronavirus

On Monday, South Delhi District Magistrate Brij Mishra shared information of relief that as many as 16 people, who were acknowledged as high-risk contacts of a coronavirus positive pizza delivery boy in Delhi, has tested negative for the virus.

All these people were considered to be at high risk of getting infected from the pizza delivery boy, who is a  resident of the Savitri Nagar area in Malviya Nagar, South Delhi. He had shown symptoms of coronavirus for around 20 days before finally testing positive for infection on April 14.

Authorities have identified 72 families in Malviya Nagar, Hauz Khas area that he had visited in the past 20 days and have now been put under home quarantine. He had also visited some hospitals in south Delhi.

Apart from these families, 17 other pizza delivery boys who worked with him have also been put under institutional quarantine.

Pizza delivery boy when tested positive for COVID-19 was working with a local pizza delivery venture and had reported showed symptoms of infection for around 20 days. Currently, he is undergoing treatment at a Delhi hospital. 

The health authorities had directed the local pizza delivery place where he worked to stay closed for 14 days as a precautionary measure.

As of Monday, Delhi has recorded over 2,000 coronavirus cases with 45 deaths. 

India's tally of coronavirus positive cases has surpassed the mark of 17,000 with more than 500 casualties.
