
Thedistrict administration on Friday handed over the final voter lists of ninelegislative assembly segments, prepared after a Special Summary Revision, tothe representatives of the various political parties under ElectionVerification Program (EVP).
Handingover the lists to representatives of the various political parties, AdditionalDeputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal said that the lists have been prepared bythe Election Commission of India after the thorough process carried outminutely in the district under EVP.
Headded that there were 16, 01,523 voters in Jalandhar when the draft electoralwere published and now the completion of EVP, the Jalandhar has now 16, 21,161voters which show a total of 19638 new voters have been registered. Among total 16, 21,161 voters, 844619 aremale, 776516 are female and 26 are third genders.
Hesaid that these lists were available with the District Election Office, Officeof EROs and even with the Booth Level Officers at the respective pollingbooths.
Hesaid that these lists could also be seen on website ceopunjab.nic.in.
Pertinently,in order to facilitate the people to get them enrolled as voters forparticipating in the democratic process more enthusiastically, ElectionCommission of India had announced the schedule for special summary revision ofphoto electoral roll under EVP.
Underthe leadership of Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Ghanshyam Thori, the districtadministration had swung into action for this work.
Theclaims and objections for the draft publication of rolls were received fromNovember 16 to December 15 at the concerned polling booths or the offices ofthe Registration Officers/ Assistant Registration Officers.
Likewiseon January 5, the claims and objections were settled and as per theinstructions of the ECI, the database was updated under EVP.
