Jalandhar, February 2- As many as 298 candidates have filedtheir nomination papers on the third day of nominations for the municipalelections in the district on Tuesday.
Divulging the details, Additional Deputy Commissioner(Development)-Additional District Electoral Officer Vishesh Sarangal said that298 nominations including 23 in Adampur Municipal Council, 31 in AlawalpurMunicipal Council, 55 in Kartarpur, 45 in Nakodar, 24 in Nurmahal, 35 inPhillaur, 57 in Lothian Khas and 28 in Mehatpur Nagar Panchayat where electionswere scheduled to be held on February 14, 2021.
He said that total 367 candidates have filed nominationsfor the elections in 110 wards of six Municipal Councils and two NagarPanchayats.
Additional deputy commissioner said that on the first dayfor the nominations a total of eight candidates had filed nominations and 61 onsecond day.
He said that the last date of filing nomination papers wasFebruary 3, 2021, adding the scrutiny would take place by February 4 andcandidates can withdraw their papers by February 5, 2021.
The elections were scheduled to be held on February 14, andthe result to be declared on February 17, 2021, as per the schedule, he added.
