Chandigarh, March 27: Ms. Vini Mahajan (IAS) Chief Secretaryto the Government of Punjab spoke on building partnership and mutualcooperation among ITEC nations during the valedictory ceremony of 5 day 8the-International Public Health Management Development Program (e-IPHMDP)organised by Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health,PGIMER, Chandigarh on Friday. 

She appreciated this important initiative of PGIMER,Chandigarh in building capacity of senior public health managers on publichealth management program in overall improving the effectiveness and efficiencyof national programs in their respective countries. She told that she has beena part of this program since the day it was conceived.  She thanked all the e-ITEC participants forparticipating and positively contributing to the exchange of ideas, buildingmutual support and establishing networks for overall benefit of the globalsociety. She appreciated Indian Technical Economic Cooperation, Ministry ofExternal Affairs, Govt. of India for sponsoring 100 participants from 33nations to this global program which demonstrated country’s premium casepractices in managing various health problems including current coronaviruspandemic.

Besides Ms. Vini Mahajan, Prof. Jagat Ram Director, PGIMER ,Mr. Somnath Chatterjee, Director (DPA-II), Ministry of External Affairs,Government of India and Dr. Harshad Thakur Director, NIHFW and Prof. AmarjeetSingh, HoD, DCM and SPH were the guest of Honour. Each of them appreciated theprogram organizers for conducting a very useful, innovative, informative,knowledgeable and interesting program which they can replicate in theirsettings. 

Mr. Somnath Chatterjee, Director (DPA-II), Ministry ofExternal Affairs, appreciated the support of PGIMER in conducting this programfor last many years. He told that this program is one of the very popularprograms across 161 ITEC nations and has been instrumental in building mutualcooperation among ITEC nations. 

Director PGIMER, Prof. Jagat Ram appreciated the dedicationof participants who joined this program after overcoming the time barriers. Hehighlighted the aim of the program, the diverse teaching methodology, the funactivities and best practices taught during the program. He  appreciated the Department of Communitymedicine and School of Public Health, PGIMER, especially Professor Sonu Goeland his team for conducting this wonderful program and more importantsustaining it for 5 years now. 

The valedictory ceremony consisted of glimpse of the 5 dayprogram, live feedback session of participant and facilitator and CulturalExtravaganza where participants from 33 countries showcased their culturalheritage. While appreciating the efforts of participants for their intensivehard work and keenness to learn during this program, Dr. Goel, Program Directorsaid that the program has trained over 600 participants from 85 countries. Heexpressed hope that the participants shall be the brand ambassadors of theprogram and shall conduct similar programs in their settings.
