4 people arrested for waving saffron flag inside Taj Mahal premises

The four arrested are said to be members of a Hindu outfit.

Four-person belonging to a right-wing organisation including the outfit's district president have been arrested in Agra on Monday for waving saffron lags at the historic Taj Mahal monument premises. 

CISF personnel deployed at the Taj Mahal arrested the four men after which they were handed over to police. The persons who have been identified as Gaurav Thakur, Sonu Baghel, Vishesh Kumar and Rishi Lavania.

Reportedly, these four men entered the monument carrying the saffron flags and waved at the complex. They are the members of an organisation called Hindu Jagran Manch and Gaurav Thakur is the district president of their youth wing.

CISF Commandant deployed at Taj Mahal,  Rahul Yadav, speaking to The Times of India said that the men were involved in similar incidents last year as well.

“Our security personnel use metal detectors for frisking visitors but a small piece of cloth can’t be detected. Selfie sticks are allowed and they used it for hoisting these cloth flags," he told the paper.

A case against the three men has been registered at Tajganj police station under Section 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 7 in The Criminal Law Amendment Act. 

Inspector Umesh Chandra Tripathi said three people waved flags at the Taj Mahal complex under the leadership of right-wing leader Gaurav Thakur.
