Health Ministry signs MoUs with 55 countries

Cooperation in the field of heath and medicine the main agenda

New Delhi, Dec 29: Keeping the cooperation in field of health and medicine as agenda, Ministry of Health and Family welfare has signed bilateral MoUs with 55 countries. However, there has been no agreement signed for the cooperation in 'treatment' of diseases.
Afghanistan, Bangladesh, China, Germany, Iran, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, the Maldives, Oman, Saudi Arabia, the Seychelles, the US, Vietnam and Yemen are among 55 countries with whom the memorandum has been signed with.

Though, there is no provision on extending financial aid or providing of medical aid in the bilateral MoUs.

The involved countries seek to establish comprehensive inter-institutional and inter-ministerial cooperation in the field of health and medicine aiming the upgrade in quality and reach of human, material and infrastructural resources involved in healthcare, training and research on the basis of equality, reciprocity and mutual benefit.

The joint meetings will be held regularly at appropriate times as mutually decided upon. This will provide opportunities for the sharing and emulation of the prevalent practices and learning from each other to address public health challenges.
