A six-year-old girl has been found strangled to death in Jalandhar after being raped. According to information received, the minor girl went missing from Hazara village in Patara district police station late on Saturday evening. Her body was recovered this morning from a sugarcane field at Johal-Bolina on Rama Mandi, Hoshiarpur Road.
DSP Adampur, Harinder Singh Mann and SHO Patara, Rashpal Singh Sidhu, who reached the spot, took the body of the girl in their possession and started investigation.
Investigations have revealed that Santosh, a 25-year-old immigrant who abducted the girl, strangled her to death after raping her and then dumped her body in a sugarcane field.
DSP Adampur said that various police teams were conducting raids to nab the absconding accused Santosh and the body of the deceased girl was sent to the Civil Hospital for postmortem. He said that a case of murder and rape has been registered against accused Santosh at Patara police station.
