
There are in all 1.12 crore government employees andpensioners and to make their life easier the center has taken some steps.
Recently, many were thinking that the government wouldreinforce the hike in dearness allowance (DA) from this month but this doesn’tseem to occur anymore as new reports are suggesting that the hike will beobserved from September 2021 onwards which calls for the celebration of over 1crore Indian citizens.
The decision was taken on June 26 after the meetingbetween officials of the National Council of Joint Consultative Machinery(JCM), the Ministry of Finance, and the Department of Personnel and Training(DOPT).
The National Council of JCM has issued a letter relatedto the same and it points out that the June 26 meeting on DA hike restorationended on a positive note. It was issued by the office of JCM Secretary ShivGopal Mishra.
This step is taken up by the authorities so that peoplemay overcome themselves from the financial loss which the disastrous diseaseCOVID-19 bought. The decision of suspending the hike in the dearness allowance(DA) for over 18 months is an initiative to save funds.
In the letter, the Secretary of the JCM office reportedthat the Union cabinet secretary has agreed to withdraw the suspension on DAand DR.
Meanwhile, the final decision is yet to be taken by the government on the liabilities of the hike in DA or DR, which are due and are tobe paid by the Central Government employees and pensioners.
