Coronavirus Lockdown: 80 crore people to get rice at Rs 3/kg and wheat at Rs 2/ kg assures Modi govt

Amid the growing sacre of novel coronavirus in the country. on Wednesday, the Modi government in its cabinet meeting has taken major decisions to ensure the supply of essential services to its citizens.

In a meeting of the Union Cabinet chaired by PM Modi it has been decided to give food grains at a cheaper rate to 80 crore people of the country. In a press conference after the cabinet meeting, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said that 80 crore people of the country will be given ration at a cheap rate. He said that the central government will give 7 kg per person ration every month to 80 crore people of the country and that too for 3 months in advance.

While addressing the media, Prakash Javadekar said the government has decided to give wheat worth Rs 27 per kg to 80 crore people for only Rs 2 per kg and rice worth Rs 37 per kg for Rs 3 per kg.

Rs 1 lakh 80 thousand crore rupees are being spent on this and this will be given to the states in advance for three months. 

Talking about the Covid-19, the Union Minister said to avoid corona infection, maintain social distance. Do not pay attention to any kind of rumors and keep checking the Health Ministry website. 

Prakash Javadekar further added that there are only three ways to fight this disease. Firstly, stay home, secondly, wash hands before doing anything and wash hands repeatedly. Third, in times of fever, cold and cough visit your doctor and follow social distancing. We have to keep this in our practice.

He said that more than 16 thousand deaths have taken place in the world so far. More than 3,267 people died in China and more than 5000 in Italy, and more than 250 people in America. This is a sad story and this crisis is overshadowing the whole world. Therefore, what PM Modi said is in the national interest. 

Prakash Javadekar said that all shops of essential services will be open every day. Be it milk, medicines or ration, all shops will be open. We don't have to rush to the store. We have to go there and follow social distancing. There should be a gap of at least 6 feet between two customers. If you do, then there is no need to fear.
