An 83-year-old man committed suicide on Friday by shooting himself with his own revolver in Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow, after he failed to speak to his ailing wife, who is currently undergoing medical treatment, said police.
83-year-old Om Prakash Singh was depressed as his wife Chanda was admitted to a hospital in Mahanagar after she had a hip fracture.
As per reports, the incident took place on Thursday night when the elderly man could not speak to his wife and in utter distress used his own licensed revolver to shoot himself.
Following the incident, the old man was immediately rushed to the same hospital where his wife had been admitted.

However, the doctors at the hospital declared Om Prakash brought dead.
We have recovered the revolver from the bathroom which had only one bullet shell, said police.
The body of the deceased has been sent for autopsy and an investigation is underway, further said police.
