BJP leaders collect donations for the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya and use the money for consuming alcohol, alleged senior Congress MLA Kantilal Bhuria from Madhya Pradesh’s Jhabua. “BJP leaders collected thousands of crores over the years in the name of Ram Temple construction. Where did that fund go? They collect donations in the name of Ram Temple in the day and drink alcohol using the same money at night,” the senior Congress leader said on Monday.

Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has authorised Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS), Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and those with "credible credentials" in society to collect voluntary donations from people across the country for the construction of the temple.

“Congress always speaks against Lord Ram”

Madhya Pradesh cabinet minister Vishvas Sarang termed Bhuria’s comment as shameful and said that the Congress party always speaks against Lord Ram and Hindus.

Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Protem Speaker Rameshwar Sharma clarified that the donations will directly go to the bank account of the Ram temple trust.

Earlier, Congress leader Digvijaya Singh has also questioned the government as to why they need to force people to donate. He also said that Muslims in Madhya Pradesh were being targeted during fund-raising rallies for the construction of Ram temple and RSS workers were creating violence.

Incidents of stone-pelting and arson were reported from some places after rallies in Ujjain, Mandsaur and Indore in the last week of December.

Referring to BJP, Congress leader Laxman Singh and Singh’s brother earlier had said that he would not give donations to thieves.
