Giving an unforeseen statement in an interview, Pakistan Prime Minister on Tuesday said that he thinks there may be a better chance of peace talks with India; if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prevails the general election commencing from Thursday.

Indicating towards the unease of taking strong decision by the Congress, he went on to say that if the Congress leads the government, it may be too scared to seek a settlement with Pakistan over Kashmir. Cricketer turned politician Imran Khan told a small group of foreign journalists in an interview “Perhaps if the BJP — a right-wing party — wins, some kind of settlement in Kashmir could be reached.”

He also alleged that the Indian government for isolating the Muslims. Khan said, “I never thought I would see what is happening in India right now, Muslim-ness is being attacked."

Accusing Modi of walking the footprint of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he said the acting Prime Minister of India is electioneering based on “fear and nationalist feelings.”

Talking about Kashmir issue he went on to say that, Kashmir was a political struggle and there was no armed solution, adding that Kashmiris endured if armed militants from Pakistan came across the border, leading to Indian army crackdowns.

Reiterating the peace treaty Khan said that it was essential for Pakistan to have harmony with its neighbors, Afghanistan, India and Iran, if it was to have the kind of economy needed to pull 100 million people out of poverty.
