Just a day after Yashwant Sinha's 'unsolicited' advice to announce the alliances, Congress seems to have followed that advice and has announced the alliance with National Conference with Farooq Abdullah and Ghulam Nabi Azad being present on the announcement of alliance.
Both the parties will be contesting from Anantnag and Baramulla seats with their own candidates as whoever wins from those two seats will be a 'win-win' situation for the parties. Ladakh is yet to be announced from the alliance.
"Jammu and Udhampur will be contested by Congress, I will contest from Srinagar and there will be a friendly contest between National Conference and Congress in Anantnag and Baramulla. We've also discussed the Ladakh seat," said Farooq Abdullah.
"The alliance has been finalised in the National interest and will strengthen the secular forces in Jammu and Kashmir as the state forces threat from Pakistan," said Ghulam Nabi Azad.
"Friendly contest means that there will be no cut throat contest between us on these 2 seats. If either Congress or National Conference wins, it's a win-win situation for both of us," he added.
Congress after victory in three hindi heartland state assemblies last year has been hoping for a changed face and fate in Central politics in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
