Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is one of the longest running shows on Indian television. Disha Vakani played the lead role as Dayaben. Disha has been allied with the show since the very beginning from the year 2008. It has been ten years and still counting.
Taarak Mehta is also the longest running Indian sitcom and has entered the Limca Book of World Records for this success. However, the ratings of the show dropped ever since Disha Vakani who plays Dayaben in the show went on a maternity break. She gave birth to a baby girl on November 30 and decided to make a comeback around July this year.
However according to the reports, she decided not to return to the daily soap because her husband thinks that the child needs more time and attention and if she joins the show, she won’t be able to give that much time to the kid. The shooting conditions are hectic and tedious and since Disha's baby is still very young she needs her.

The makers of the show gave the actress a period of 30 days to return to the show owing to her fan base. As told by the source, “Bas, ab ho gaya. Modi waited ethically how much he and his cast-crew could. Now, Modi says he will just give a concession period of a month, starting today. There has been absolutely no contact between the two parties ever since Dayaben's last day at shoot. Team of the show has no problems if she wants to look after her baby but some of her demands that they would imply if she was to return, were just not easy to accept when her husband last has a word with us."
The actress demanded for a change in her pay that is earlier she used to be paid 1.25 lac per episode and now she has asked them to give her around Rs 1.50 lakh per episode.
As per the latest news, the producer of the show, Asit Kumar Modi is looking for new Dayaben and they have finally decided to replace her leading Disha to mend her ways. Asit Modi plans to look into the issue whereas he is now in London holidaying with his kids but the report suggests that he will look into the matter when he will be back around May 18-19.
Refusing the rumor of being approached for the cast of Dayaben, Ami Trivedi said, “No, I have not been approached, but my friends have been telling me that I should take up the role and would suit the character. I have not been offered the role, nor the makers have tried to reach me out.”
