IT raid exposes 'Widespread and well-organized racket' of Rs 281 crore in MP

With a series of raids conducted by the Income tax department in NCR, Bhopal, Indore and Goa on Sunday, including the pre-dawn search at the houses of OSD of Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh the speculation of use of money for vote bank increased.

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) on Monday said that raid by the income tax department have detected “widespread and well-organized racket” of collection of unaccounted money of about Rs 281 crore through persons involved in business, politics and public services.

While the opposition are claiming the I-T raids as a political vendetta by Narendra Modi and terming these raids as biased as no BJP leader aids or leaders houses were searched.

The CBDT also went on to say that unaccounted cash of Rs 14.6 crore has been found so far, besides 252 bottles of liquor, few arms and the skin of a tiger.

Giving the information about the raids in NCR CBDT said, “The raids in Delhi in the group of a close family member of the senior bureaucrat have further led to seizure of implicating proofs including cash book recording unaccounted transactions of Rs 230 crore, siphoning off money through fake billing of more than Rs. 242 crore and proofs of more than 80 companies in tax havens”.
