A 40-year-old woman has been arrested and her minor daughter apprehended in the case already.
The abandoned body of a child was found in the suburban area Mauli Jagran on December 4 last year. The mtDNA samples of many people including the suspects were collected on December 8 last year, based on whose result the minor and her mother were rounded up.
In the preliminary investigation of the police, it has come to the fore that the newborn died due to cold. However, after the post-mortem, the real cause of death of the child will be revealed. Earlier, a similar case had come to the fore in the city last week as well.
A midwife left her newborn child under the open sky in this severe cold to die in Chandigarh. There was a stir in the area after the body of a newborn was found inside a blanket in the railway station area outside the plot located in Industrial Area Phase-1.
The eyes of a passer-by passing by fell on the red blanket. When he looked near, his senses were blown away. The newborn was wrapped in a blanket and no one was around.
After getting the information, the police arrived and after the investigation of the GRP, the Industrial Area Police Station has registered a case against the unknown. The police have kept the child's body in the marchery of GMCH-32.

According to the police, at 5 pm on Wednesday, a passer-by in the police control room informed about the finding of the newborn.
Based on the investigation of the police station, the age of the newborn is two to three months. The police, who reached the spot, took the child's body in possession and kept it in the mortuary of the hospital. At the same time, the search is on for the parents of the child.
After the incident, Sector-39 police station is engaged in interrogating people. Apart from this, the police is also engaged in scouting the records of Civil Hospital including GMCH-32, GMSH-16. The police is also engaged in verifying by obtaining the mobile number, address and other information of the parents of the newborn innocents.
Earlier last year in December, a newborn was found dead in the open ground behind Dharamshala in village Kishangarh. The innocent, thrown in a red cloth, had died of cold. This is the second such case to have come up in the city. The police also checked the CCTV footage around Dharamsala to find out who threw the newborn here. However, till now the police have not got any clue.
