If you are a fast food junky and extremely crave the need for Pizza and Burgers then it is the high time you take a tough call on it. A recent study on the matter has found that even a single dose of it intensifies the risk of diabetes and fatty liver diseases in you.

The study done by scientists from the German Diabetes Center and the Helmholtz center in Munich revealed that even the one-off consumption of a greater amount of palm oil lowers the body’s sensitivity to insulin and leads to large fat deposits and changes the energy metabolism of the liver.

The results of the study went on to publish in the Journal of Clinical Investigation, presenting the information that the earliest change in the metabolism of the liver in the long-term lead to fatty liver disease in the person struggling with obesity as well as those struggling with Type-2 diabetes.

Prof. Dr. Michael Roden from the German Diabetes Center went on to say about the intensity of the matter saying, “The surprise was that a single dosage of palm oil has such a rapid and direct impact on the liver of a healthy person and that the amount of fat administered already triggered insulin resistance.”

Based on the reports available on the matter, the study by the group of scientists was conducted on healthy, slim men, who were randomly given a flavored palm oil drink or a glass of clear water in a control experiment. The palm oil drink contained a similar amount of saturated fat as two cheeseburgers with bacon and a large portion of French fries or two salami pizzas.

Over to that a change in the energy balance of the liver was proven, and the metabolic changes observed were found similar to the changes observed in persons with type 2 diabetes or non-alcoholic fatty liver diseases. The working group of scientists was able to verify that the intake of palm oil affects the metabolic activity of muscles, liver, and fatty tissues.

The matter of concern associated with the increased availability of fat amps up the workload on the mitochondria, which in the long term overburden the powerhouse of the cells and leads to liver disease.
