In Sursingh town of Tarn Taran district, a poor woman of SC family was severely beaten by  Gurjit Singh of that village in the open market. The video was captured on a CCTV camera. The young man arrives on a motorcycle and openly starts beating a woman in front of her daughter and the woman runs to a shop to save her life. The victim Manjit Kaur, wife of Tarsem Singh, resident of Sur Singh Patti Manaki said the attacker was Gurjit Singh son of Kulwant Singh resident of village Sursingh who has been trying to kill her for the last two years.

He has been raping her by threatening her and even now when I have denied all this, the man grabbed her in Sursingh's main market with the intention of killing me and beaten me severely.  The woman said that she immediately lodged a written complaint of the incident at Sursingh police station but after several days no action was taken by the police. The victim's husband Tarsem Singh said that the incident took place in the past.

This was the whole incident of Sunday and on the same day we have filed an application at the police station but no hearing is being held by the in charge of the police station. On the contrary, we are being forced to resign. The victim said, Gurjit Singh, son of Kulwant Singh, has been having illicit relations with his wife by threatening to kill her, and even after that, the police are not holding any hearing.  

The whole family will take poisonous medicine in front of police,' the victim said'. When Gurjit Singh, son of the assailant, spoke to Kulwant Singh, he denied all the allegations leveled against him, saying that the woman, Manjit Kaur, had an affair with him and that they had consensual sexual intercourse.

Narinder Singh, in charge of Sursingh police station, said that the matter was under his notice and an in-depth investigation was being carried out and whoever was found guilty would be prosecuted.
