The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will contest the upcoming municipal corporation and municipal committee elections in Punjab on its own election symbol ‘broom’, party’s District Rural President, Principal Prem Kumar and District ( Urban) President, Rajwinder Kaur, announced in a press conference here on Tuesday.

“These elections will be fought on the party’s election symbol. It is a golden opportunity for the people this time to bring change in the cities by electing their councillors among the people, who would work for the people”, the district heads said in the media briefing.

They further said the officials conducting the elections should perform their duties without any pressure.

Rajwinder Kaur and Principal Prem Kumar said that scams of crores of rupees are done in local bodies and municipal committees. To prevent such corruption, it is necessary that an educated and qualified person is elected as a representative.

“With ‘broom’ (AAP’s poll symbol), political and garbage contamination would be cleaned from the streets”, they added.

On farmers’ agitation, “The district leaders said while the farmers are fighting for their survival on the Delhi borders in severe cold, it was unfortunate that their issues were not being addressed by the dictatorial central government. The party has done its duty in the Central Hall by raising the voice of farmers in front of Prime Minister Modi”, they said.

Others present on the occasion includes Tarandeep Singh Sunny, Media Incharge Jalandhar, Sanjeev Bhagat, Social Media Incharge Jalandhar, Pradeep Duggal, Event Incharge, Santok Bhagat Office Incharge, Darshan Lal Bhagat, Ramesh Bhagat, Vinod Modi, Sukhwinder Brahmapuri and Ajay Thakur.
