The women elected by the Punjab government will have to get the work done on their own. Her husband, father or son will not be allowed to attend government meetings or work in their place. A circular in this regard has been issued in all the district headquarters. Additionally, it was made clear to the officers that they would be held accountable if one of their relatives received their assigned spot.

Kuldeep Dhaliwal, Minister of Rural Development and Panchayats said that complaints regarding the exploitation of the post by the husband, father, brother, and other relatives in place of the approximately 95% of women elected as Sarpanch, Panch, and Block Samiti members have been made for a long time.

They are not given a chance by the members of the house. They skip the Block Committee and Zilla Parishad meeting. When the husbands of councilors go to DC or SSP office, they call themselves Sarpanch or Councilors. In cities, women also become members of city councils and Nagar panchayats.  The government has issued a directive ordering the elected women's representatives to report to work themselves starting today. Attend all kinds of meetings.
