In a major development, AAP MLA Jaswant Singh Gajjanmajra on Monday was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Jaswant Singh Gajjanmajra, MLA from Amargarh, Punjab the Aam Aadmi Party was detained when he was addressing a party workers’ meeting in his constituency Amargarh of Malerkotla district. At first, it was not revealed on what charges the AAP MLA was arrested, but later it was revealed that Jaswant Singh Gajjanmajra was arrested in a Rs 40 crore bank fraud case.
As per reports, AAP MLA Jaswant Singh Gajjanmajra had skipped at least four summons of the ED. Jaswant Singh Gajjanmajra was summoned for questioning in the bank fraud case, however, he did not appear before the central agency. As a result, the Jalandhar ED team took Gajjanmajra into custody.
What are the charges against AAP MLA Jaswant Singh Gajjanmajra?
As per reports, back in 2022, the Enforcement Directorate carried out a raid on the premises of Aam Aadmi Part MLA, Jaswant Singh Gajjanmajra from Amargarh, Punjab. The raid also took place in the schools, real estate and factories related to the MLA. The AAP MLA was accused in a 40 crore bank scam case for which earlier also CBI had raided his properties.
The AAP MLA had taken a loan from the bank in 4 installments between 2011 and 2014. The loan taken by him amounted to Rs. 40.92 crores. The Ludhiana branch of the bank complained about the same to the CBI. They stated that the loan taken by the MLA is not being used for the purpose mentioned but is being utilized at some other places.
