AAP MLAs accuse BJP of offering up to Rs 25 cr to switch party; FIR filed

Both MLAs received these offers over the phone following which they complained about it to the police.

Two Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs in Punjab have claimed to have received offers worth crores of rupees to join BJP. According to Jalalabad MLA Goldie Kamboj, she was offered Rs 25 crore, while MLA from Ludhiana South Assembly constituency Rajinderpal Kaur Chhina said that she was offered Rs 5 crore and a Lok Sabha ticket.

 

Both MLAs received these offers over the phone following which they complained about it to the police. Police have registered the case and started investigation.

 

Rajinderpal Kaur Chhina informed that a few days ago she received a WhatsApp call from an unknown number. The caller introduced himself as Sevak Singh of Delhi and offered Rs 5 crore and Lok Sabha ticket to join BJP.

 

The caller asked him that if she did not want the Lok Sabha ticket then he would get some other post in the party. While Chinna refused to talk about the issue, the accused offered her to consider the proposal and said that he would call again.

 

She reportedly received calls from the person for four consecutive days. The caller also asked her to come to Delhi for a meeting with the high command. However, he did not name any leader. After this a complaint was given to the police. Police have registered a FIR against the unknown caller under section 171E (bribery) and section 123 (1) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
