Recently the police have arrested the father of Aam Aadmi Party MLA Goldy Kamboj from Jalalabad in Punjab . The arrest comes in connection with allegations of blackmail and attempted extortion of 10 lakh rupees from a property dealer. The complaint was filed by a property dealer named Sunil Kumar. The Jalalabad police have registered a case under sections 384, 389 and 34 of the IPC against the MLA's father.
According to Sunil Kumar, a woman had called him on April 20, claiming that she had sold her old house and wanted to buy a new one. The property dealer then took her to see a house on his bike. After showing her the property, the woman left. Later that day, the property dealer received a call from the woman, claiming that her son was beating her and threatening to file a rape complaint against him. The property dealer alleges that the MLA's father then called him, demanding 10 lakh rupees to settle the matter.
MLA Goldy Kamboj has denied any connection with the incident, stating that he has no relation with the property dealer and that his father will have to face the consequences if he has done anything wrong.
The police are investigating the matter further and have stated that they will take appropriate action against those found guilty.
