The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is on track for a significant victory in the Ludhiana West Assembly by-election, as its candidate Sanjeev Arora continues to maintain a commanding lead after 10 rounds of counting. According to official data from the Election Commission of India, Sanjeev Arora has secured 24,919 votes, giving him a lead of 6,025 votes over his closest competitor, Bharat Bhushan Ashu of the Indian National Congress, who stands at 18,894 votes.
BJP’s Jiwan Gupta is in third place with 15,105 votes, while Shiromani Akali Dal’s Advocate Parupkar Singh Ghuman remains a distant fourth with 5,239 votes. Neetu Shattran Wala has secured 76 votes in 10 rounds of counting. On the other hand, NOTA has secured 574 votes.
Ludhiana West is among the most high-profile constituencies that underwent polls on June 19. The bypoll was necessitated after AAP Ludhiana West MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi died of a “self-inflicted bullet injury” earlier this year.
