The much-awaited direct daily flight service from Adampur to Mumbai will restart on July 2, after a gap of five years. The Airport Authority of India has made bookings available for the new IndiGo flight, which will operate daily from Adampur at 4:30 pm and reach Mumbai International Airport at 7:30 pm, providing a quick 2-hour-40-minute ride.
This route, which was operated by SpiceJet in 2020, was shut down during the COVID-19 pandemic and had not resumed until recently. The revival is after IndiGo made it through all the necessary formalities, with the initial flight now confirmed in July following a short delay from the initially planned June 5 launch.
In the meantime, construction goes on for the four-lane access road to Adampur Civil Airport, with land acquisition already in process in Damunda and Kandola villages. The timely execution of the access road is viewed as key to facilitating increasing passenger traffic, since Adampur is already flying to Hindon, Sri Nanded Sahib, and Bangalore, and people are demanding additional domestic and international routes.
