Adriana Macias is a 41 year- old fashion designer from Guadalajara, Mexico, she embarked her career in fashion but what make her so special, are her magical feet. Adriana was born without arms, unlike others Adriana uses her feet to design her clothes.
She found her passion in fashion after her failed attempts in writing and public speaking. She is a law graduate and also a motivational speaker. Her parents taught her to use her feet from an early age. Starting from eating, writing, and cooking to designing, she does everything with her legs. Adriana holds a Guinness World Record for lighting the most number of candles with her feet in one minute.
With her own clothing line Adriana is now very successful in fashion industry. She disclosed her debut collection at Mexico Fashion Week last month where specially-abled models graced the ramp. She unveiled 12 vibrant dresses of her fall winter collection.
She says “people should not exist for clothes, clothes should exist for people.”
In an interview she said, “I’m putting out this clothing line with all these details designed to make the clothes accessible, very comfortable, very practical, but also very forma. I wanted to be inclusive because inclusiveness is a very important issue.”
Adriana used prosthetic arms but gave them up at the age of 20, after they added weight to her shoulders and caused her a severe pain.
She said “It was tough going off to university without my prostheses, taking off my shoes in class to write. It’s considered bad manners to take off your shoes.
She stands as an inspiration to many who think life is nothing but a hell without arms.
