Patna: Police tightening noose around Independent MLA from Mokama Anant Singh booked him under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Amendment Act following the recovery of AK 47 assault rifle and the huge quantity of explosives from his house during police raid at Ladma village under Barh sub-divisional area in Patna district on Friday.   

Patna police superintendent (rural) Kantesh Kumar Mishra said that an FIR was registered against Mr. Singh under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Amendment Act at Barh police station late last night.

He said that police would approach the court to pray for the issuance of an arrest warrant against him.   "Everything is in process and appropriate action would be taken in the case," Mr. Mishra said that the raid was conducted at the ancestral house of Mr. Singh following specific intelligence input.

Sources said the recovery of AK 47 from Mr. Singh's ancestral house also created speculation whether he had purchased it from arms suppliers who got access to the sophisticated firearms following the theft of them from Jabalpur based ordnance factory.
